Application period for general grants in January – personal grants for professional artists also available

The City of Tampere provides general grants to support regular activities that are open to everyone and organized by local communities. The application period for general grants is 7–30 January 2026. At the same time, applications are open for personal grants for professional artists. Information about the grants and how to apply will be provided at the grant info session at the Main Library Metso on Thursday 8 January 2026.

The City of Tampere’s general grants and personal grants for professional artists for 2026 are open for applications from 7–30 January 2026. Grants are applied for via electronic application forms. If necessary, paper appendices can be delivered to the City Registry Office. 

Applications with appendices must be submitted by 30 January 2026 at 15:45 at the latest. Late applications will not be processed. 

General grants for regular, open activities 

The City of Tampere’s general grant can be applied for by a registered association, a non-profit cooperative, or a non-profit company. The applicant must have been active for at least one year.

General grants may be awarded for the community’s regular activities that are open to all and take place in Tampere. Grants are not awarded for profit-making business activities or for religious practice.

The following general grants are available:

  • Cultural and arts communities
  • Organisations providing cultural leisure activities
  • Cultural minorities
  • Sports
  • Adapted physical activity
  • Work supporting families
  • Youth associations
  • District-level activities
  • Promotion of well-being and preventive substance abuse work
  • Promotion of well-being for the elderly
  • Animal welfare work

Decisions on general grants are made by the Culture and Leisure Committee, except for the general grant for animal welfare work, which is decided by the Regional Environmental Health Division of the City Planning and Infrastructure Services Committee. Decisions are aimed to be made in March 2026.

Personal grants for artists’ creative work 

This year, personal grants from the City of Tampere can be applied for by professional artists working in children’s culture or in the visual arts (including fine arts, photography/film, architecture/applied arts). 

Personal grants are small-scale grants intended to support artistic work. 

Applications for support grants for professional artists are submitted via an electronic form. The form and application guidelines can be found on the city’s website. The application period ends on 30 January 2026 at 15:45.

Grant info session for applicants 

All those interested in the City’s grants are welcome to the grant info session and grant clinic, which will be held in the Lehmus Hall of the Main Library Metso (Pirkankatu 2) on Thursday 8 January 2026 from 17:30 to 19:00.

The event will provide information on the City of Tampere’s 2026 grant calls and instructions on applying for general grants. After the info session, the event continues with the grant clinic, where applicants can ask more detailed questions about their own grant categories from the responsible preparers.

No advance registration is required. Coffee will be served for 70 people starting at 17:00.
