Job Market Finland is an online meeting place for job seekers and employers. Create and publish a job search profile on Job Market. With the profile, you can apply for open vacancies and receive suggestions for suitable job opportunities. Employers can also find you when they are looking for suitable candidates.

When creating your profile, artificial intelligence helps you describe your skills. On Job Market Finland, you also have the option to apply for jobs anonymously.

On the regional pages of Job Market Finland, you can find information about open positions in specific municipalities.

You can find open vacancies from various sources such as:

• the websites of different trade unions
• the websites of private employment service companies
• companies own websites and social media channels
• industry-specific electronic and paper magazines and
• recruitment events

Hidden job opportunities are positions that are not publicly advertised. Hidden jobs can be found for example, through open job applications on companies’ websites or by contacting companies by email. It is important to attach your open job application and your CV to your message

The route to employment can also be tailored. This way, you can easily try out work in a real work environment in a field you are interested in. Individual paths are usually directed towards sectors that need new professionals. The required or supplementary skills for the tasks are acquired through a combination of work and education, directly meeting the employer’s needs. You don’t need to have a ready business idea to contact Employment and Growth Services. Ask for more information about the different forms of entrepreneurship and what new entrepreneurs need to consider.

You may have the opportunity to start a business while you are an unemployed job seeker.

If you are starting a business that will last more than two weeks, inform your Employment Service Specialist about that. As an unemployed job seeker who starts a new business, the full-time or part-time nature of the activity will be assessed four months after the start of the business.

You can receive adjusted unemployment benefit for these four months if the conditions for receiving it are met. For example, you must apply for and be prepared to accept full-time work, keep your job search valid and take care of other obligations of the unemployed job seeker.

EURES is a network of European employment services. The EURES web portal publishes all job vacancies announced in the EU and EEA areas.

The website provides information about living and working in different countries, as well as educational opportunities. You can also publish your resume and create your Europass profile on the site.

Wage subsidy is a discretionary financial support that the Employment and Growth Services of City of Tampere can grant to an employer to cover part of the wage costs of an unemployed job seeker.

Wage subsidy can be granted for:

• a permanent full-time employment
• a fixed-term full-time employment
• apprenticeship training, or
• part-time employment, if the grantor deems it appropriate and it promotes the job seeker’s chances of employment.

Your Employment Service Specialist will assess with you whether wage subsidy is possible in your situation. You can ask your Employment Service Specialist about available wage-subsidized positions.

Through work try-out, you can 

• Familiarize yourself with the working life, various job tasks, and professional fields
• Assess your suitability for different roles
• Clarify your career plans

It can also support your return to the job market after a long absence.

During the work trial, the employer has the opportunity to get to know the job seeker and his/her skills in practice, and to evaluate whether the person is a good fit for the company and the role. 

During the work trial, you will receive the same benefit as when you are unemployed. If you have agreed on the work trial in your employment plan or corresponding plan, you may receive an increased unemployment benefit.

Labour market training strengthens your professional skills. If you are unemployed or at risk of unemployment, you can access labour market training. 

Labour market training is mostly vocational education, such as training leading to a basic or professional qualification or additional vocational training. Vocational labour market training is free of charge, and during it, you receive the same benefits as when unemployed and possibly also a cost allowance.

Recruitment training programs are organized in various industries and for a wide range of tasks. In recruitment training, employees are sought and trained in collaboration with companies and/or staffing service companies. You will learn the skills that employers currently need.

Ask your Employment Service Specialist about current recruitment training programs and your opportunity to participate in them.

City of Tampere Employment and Growth Services may reimburse travel and overnight accommodation expenses to an unemployed job seeker who is applying for a job, and to an unemployed customer who is enrolling in labor market training, coaching, trials or participating in an expert assessment.

The basis for travel cost reimbursement is the distance travelled in kilometres multiplied by 0.21 euros. Travel costs exceeding 12 euros are reimbursed up to a maximum of 200 euros.

Overnight accommodation costs are paid based on actual expenses up to 80 euros per day.

Apply for reimbursement within one month (30 days) of participating in a job interview or employment service.
