We use Suomi.fi Messages
The City of Tampere uses Suomi.fi Messages to send decisions of officials, minutes of the institutions and other documents.
Starting in mid-April 2026, the receipt of official mail from public authorities through online services will primarily shift to digital formats. When you log in to an electronic service, you will be directed to enable Suomi.fi Messages if you haven’t already done so. Enabling this feature requires action on your part and will not happen without your knowledge.
You can read your messages using the Suomi.fi mobile app, if you have downloaded it, or by logging in to the Suomi.fi online service and going to the "Messages" section. You will receive an email notification whenever a new message arrives in your Suomi.fi Messages. You will also receive notifications of new messages in the Suomi.fi mobile app.
If you do not use municipal or government e-services, this change will not affect you; you will continue to receive mail from the authorities in paper form. However, if you have been using Suomi.fi Messages and would like to switch back to receiving paper mail, follow these steps:
- Go to Suomi.fi Messages at suomi.fi/viestit.
- Log in to the service.
- Go to “Settings” in the menu and select “Stop using Suomi.fi Messages.”
Your choice to receive paper mail will remain in effect for at least one year. If, after one year, you log in to an e-service provided by a municipal or government agency, you will be prompted to re-enable Suomi.fi Messages. If you do not log in, official mail will continue to be sent to you by paper mail even after the one-year period has expired.
