Children's Gallery: Spring Rulla 4 March to 24 April, 2026

The Children's Gallery's spring opens with Spring Rulla at Culture House Laikku's Corridor Gallery! A painting has grown on the wall... no, a sculpture... or is it both? 

The three-dimensional work is composed of parts of collective works created over the years at the Children's Cultural Centre Rulla. It includes parts from the Paint the World! exhibition, leftover materials from the art room, and the recently organized Talvirieha (Culture House Laikku and Children's Cultural Centre Rulla) community painting workshop. 

All of the materials used in the work could have ended up in the trash. Now, together, they have taken on a new form, after which they will continue their lives as materials for new stories. The work uses materials such as painting felt and disposable tablecloths. The colors used are ecological gouache paints, watercolors, beetroot, spirulina, saffron, and food coloring.

Rulla has been participating in the Green Flag environmental education program for four years. Recycling and sustainability are cornerstones of Rulla's activities:
we actively recycle materials in both exhibitions and art workshops, and we also design art workshop programs with a strong focus on materials.

The Children's Gallery brings a festive atmosphere to Tampere Hall's Winter Garden in December. Let’s Celebrate! exhibition is featuring moominous festivities and the strangest inhabitants of the art valley. The exhibition opens on Wednesday 3.12. and will be open at Tampere Hall until 4.1.2026.

Let’s Celebrate! exhibition presents art created by children and various art techniques such as sculpture, scratch art, graphics, and mixed media using watercolors and water-soluble chalks. The themes of the works in the exhibition are Parties at Moominhouse, Landscapes of Moominvalley, and Friends of Art Tufts. The artists are aged 5-12, and the works have been created in the cultural education program Art Arc (Taidekaari) for 1st and 6th graders and in the Art Hours at Children's Cultural Centre Rulla. In addition, you can also participate in the exhibition by writing or drawing a place where it is best to be.

The Children's Gallery's exhibition Let’s Celebrate! is part of the 80th anniversary of the Moomins and the 20th anniversary of Art Arc and Rulla. The Children's and Youth’s Gallery is an art concept developed by Children's Cultural Centre Rulla and cultural education program Art Arc, where art of children and youth is highlighted in Tampere cityscape.

The exhibition is open during Tampere Hall's opening hours.

During the spring of 2024, colours, creatures and various characters appeared on the outer walls of Culture House Laikku. The art made by children can be seen at the parade place in the center of Tampere, when the artworks created in the activities of the Children's Cultural Centre Rulla and the cultural education program Taidekaari took over part of the tarpaulin covering Culture House Laikku. 

The works can be seen on Laikku's exterior walls during the facade renovation until the end of 2024.

In the spring of 2024, art made by pre-school and young students was seen in the park areas of Tampere. In art planting boxes spring flowers were accompanied by important messages written on flags, growing sculptures and shelters for little creatures and colourful animals. The works for the boxes were made by pre-school students in the Taidekaari workshops, whose themes were architecture, public art and urban nature. 

The art planting boxes have been implemented in cooperation with the cultural education program Taidekaari and the green planning of the City of Tampere, Tampere Infra and the Tampere Parish Union.

Children's and Youth's Gallery can also be seen at tram stops around Tampere in the summer! 

A total of 14 artworks can be seen at the stops from the Children's Gallery exhibitions that were on display in the Culture House Laikku's Corridor Gallery in the spring 2024, as well as from Taidekaari's Rytmireilaajat entirety.
