Lielahti Manor artists' and cultural community
The manor’s temporary spaces provide a setting for experiments in culture, art, and community building. We are seeking a diverse range of artists and cultural practitioners whose independent and creative work is supported through facilitation and community planning.
Studio tenants are stakeholders in the manor’s artist and cultural community, which fosters collaboration and provides opportunities to experiment with various artistic and community-based processes. Applicants are expected to be interested in participating in an active and open community.
The manor’s community includes visual artists, musicians, writers, performing artists, and photographers, among others. The community forming at Lielahti Manor is a multidisciplinary environment where people experiment, explore, and create together. Activities also include events in which the public can participate through hands-on engagement.
The community is open to everyone, including artists at the beginning of their careers, who can participate on an equal footing and help shape its direction. The manor provides a place where art can be created, shared, and developed together with others.
These elements form the core of a broader cultural ecosystem that is open to all city residents. We especially welcome people who want to participate actively, develop our activities, and create new initiatives in the fields of art and culture.
Community circles and different types of membership
A creative cultural center is being built collaboratively at Lielahti Manor. The project is based on community planning and open, participatory artistic processes.
The manor is a place where people boldly experiment with new ways of creating and experiencing art, while strengthening the role of culture in the daily lives of city residents. The goal is to foster a vibrant and evolving community.
The project is being developed in collaboration with the City of Tampere, Yhteisöarkkitehtuuri ry, and the cultural centre’s community. At the same time, new methods of funding and distribution are being tested. The development work will continue at least until 2030, when the renovation of the manor is scheduled to begin.
Yhteisöarkkitehtuuri ry is currently responsible for renting the premises. People can get involved in the activities at a level that suits them. Regular open events that support networking are organized for members, such as open house days, voting nights, hubs, discussions, and annual celebrations.
