The Curriculum For Pre-Primary Education
The purpose of the pre-primary education curriculum of the City of Tampere is to ensure high-quality and equal pre-primary education in all its pre-primary education units. We implement the pre-primary and initial education operating model as well as strong school pathway -specific collaboration all the way from early childhood education to upper secondary school.
The Tampere pre-primary education curriculum emphasises:
- consideration of an individual's needs as a member of the community
- the importance of education and eco-social education, a key element of which is the adoption of a sustainable lifestyle
The Tampere pre-primary education curriculum is grounded in the Basic Education Act and the National Core Curriculum for Pre-Primary Education.

Pre-primary education unit’s school year plan
In the autumn, the goals of the activity are discussed with the child's guardians and the child is learned through observations. For children in supplementary early childhood education, the early childhood education plan is recorded in the eVaka system together with the guardians.
Observations, discussions and previous early childhood education plans made about the children in the preschool group serve as the basis for the preschool unit's academic year plan, which is prepared each autumn when operations begin. The academic year plan describes how the preschool unit's operations support the development of children's broad-based competence and implement cooperation between preschool and primary education.
