A work trial offers you as an employer a low-threshold way to get to know a potential employee through practical work. You can offer a work trial position to someone interested in your company’s industry or a specific role. For the job seeker, it can be the first step toward employment – and for you, an opportunity to find talent without risk.
Why choose a work trial?
- Free service for employers
- No employment relationship – the participant is not your employee during the trial
- No salary costs – the participant receives unemployment benefits and possibly Kela reimbursements
- Safe process – accident and liability insurance are covered by the agreement
- Opportunity to get to know the candidate before making a hiring decision
A work trial typically lasts about two months. It is ideal when you want to evaluate a candidate’s skills or suitability for your company. Work trial cannot replace permanent or recurring workforce needs. The trial can only begin after a signed agreement between the job seeker, the employer, and the Employment and Growth Services Employment Service Specialist.
If, at the end of the trial, the candidate needs additional skills to secure permanent employment, we can explore options to continue the path with various training solutions – often at no cost to the employer.
