The Tampere City Strategy

What do Tampere residents consider important in the development of the city? Explore the results of the participation data.
The city of Tampere will update its strategy during the year 2025. To support this update, the city wanted to hear the views of Tampere residents on the smoothness of everyday life and how they would develop Tampere in the coming years.
The consultation of Tampere residents was carried out extensively through various surveys, discussions, and workshops during March and April. The Tampere survey, open to all residents, was available in March. Additionally, the thoughts of Tampere residents were collected through an employee survey and discussions with advocacy bodies and councils. The views of children and young people were gathered during the Influence! days for 4th and 9th graders. Furthermore, so-called silent groups were heard in discussions facilitated by local associations and organizations. Data collection was carried out in collaboration with associations, organizations, and the Tampere Region Vocational College Tredu.
In total, over 7,000 Tampere residents were reached through various participation channels and methods! The city warmly thanks everyone who has been involved in influencing the future of Tampere. The views of Tampere residents will be utilized not only in the strategy but also in the preparation of the new mayor's program.

The Tampere City Strategy lays the foundation for the city’s management. It is based on recognised factors that will drive future changes, and represents the long-term goals of the city’s development from the present to 2030.
Tampere’s new strategy was drafted together with city personnel, residents and stakeholders. The strategy was approved by the City Council on 15 November 2021.
