Cool places and drinking water
This page provides information on cool spots in Tampere and places where you can get cold water for free. Climate change is raising average temperatures in Pirkanmaa region as well, which increases the number of hot days and prolongs heat waves.
During a heat wave, it is advisable to drink plenty of water, stay in the shade or in cool spaces, and avoid strenuous physical activity during the hottest part of the day. Light clothing, sun protection, and regular meals help you cope, and it’s important to look out for your loved ones—especially those in at-risk groups.
Where can I find a cool place?
This map shows open, public spaces with air conditioning. Please check the opening hours of these spaces. The map also shows Tampereen Vesi’s drinking water fountains and parks that, based on Tampere’s urban heat island study, have been found to be slightly cooler than their surroundings on hot days. Getting wet in the water helps cool you down on hot days, so the city’s beaches are also marked on the map.
