Summer activities in basic education

The basic education department of the City of Tampere organizes summer club activities for 1st and 2nd grade students as well as for students requiring special support (this is intended for students with demanding special support needs, who have a special support decision, an EHO decision, or a corresponding need for support, and require full-time guidance), primarily due to the guardians' employment or studies.

The summer clubs operate centrally at nine schools from June 1 to June 26, 2026. The daily activity time is from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (except for the Midsummer week, when activities are organized from Monday to Thursday).

Application for summer clubs 2026

The application period for summer clubs starts on April 13, 2026 and ends on April 27, 2026.

Applications for summer clubs organized by basic education are made in the Wilma system.

Additional information about summer activities

The fee for summer club activities is 80€ for each starting week of the summer club. The fee is charged for the weeks marked on the registration form. During the registration period, it is possible to cancel or change the summer club weeks until the end of the registration period. After the registration period ends, the fee will be charged for each reserved week.

You can apply for a fee waiver for summer activities. Summer activities are automatically free of charge if the morning and afternoon activities for schoolchildren have been free of charge during the 2025–2026 school year.

Puistokoulu will provide summer care from June 1 to June 26, 2026 (except for Midsummer Eve on June 19) and after the summer break from July 20 to August 3, 2026.

In accordance with the new Disability Services Act, summer care is provided in situations where the needs of a disabled child require the arrangement of holiday care due to the guardian's employment or other similar reasons. Holiday care for disabled children is arranged as a new short-term care service.

Guardians apply for a decision on short-term care from disability services. Summer care is also arranged for pupils who have a valid decision on a special care program (EHO decision).

Children and young people with developmental disabilities are not charged for summer activities until the age of 18.
