Educational Measures and Discipline in Basic Education
In the basic education of Tampere, there is a shared plan for using educational measures, disciplinary actions, and safety measures. The aim is to make sure that students have a safe learning environment and that all students are treated fairly. The plan is based on the Basic Education Act, supports the local curriculum, and guides schools in everyday situations.
First, schools try to guide student behaviour through educational methods, such as talking with the student and supporting their social and emotional skills. If needed, schools can also use disciplinary actions, such as detention or a written warning. The student’s age, the situation, and individual needs are always taken into account, and each case is considered separately.
Cooperation with guardians is an important part of school life. Guardians are informed about situations concerning their child and can take part in discussing them. If needed, students also receive support from student welfare services. The goal is to find positive solutions that support the student’s well-being and a safe school day.
