Client fees for afternoon club activities

Starting next autumn, the city will only offer afternoon activities from 12 PM to 5 PM. Morning activities will end on August 1, 2025.

On March 11, 2025, the Education and Training Committee approved new customer fees and exemption criteria for afternoon activities, which will take effect on August 1, 2025. From August onwards, afternoon activities will cost 160 euros per month.

The exemption criteria will be expanded to include general housing support. Otherwise, the exemption criteria will remain unchanged. Practices related to sibling discounts and sick leave will also remain unchanged.

Sibling Discount and Sick Leave

The sibling discount on the customer fee is 10 euros from the oldest sibling's customer fee if the student has a sibling from the same family in afternoon activities. The fee can be charged for each month the child participates in afternoon activities.

Only half of the fee is charged if the child cannot participate in afternoon activities for more than 10 days in a calendar month due to illness. If the absence due to illness lasts the entire calendar month, no fee is charged. If the child does not participate in afternoon activities for the entire calendar month for other reasons, half of the monthly fee is charged. No other fees can be charged for participation in activities.

Criteria for Fee Exemption

Fee exemption is granted based on a separate application made by the guardian. The exemption can be granted from the beginning of the month in which the application is received. The fee reduction decision is made for a maximum of one academic year at a time. The exemption must be applied for in writing and must include the necessary explanations and documents.

Applications for fee exemption for morning and afternoon activities are processed in early childhood education and pre-primary education customer fees (contact details at the bottom of this page).

Fee exemption can be granted

  1. As a child welfare support measure based on a written notification from a social worker. A written statement must be attached to the application.
  2. If the guardian receives social assistance/reception allowance. The fee waiver will also be extended to include general housing allowance starting from August 1, 2025. A calculation of social assistance/a decision on reception allowance/a decision on general housing allowance must be attached to the application.
  3. As rehabilitation for a child with a developmental disability. A special care program must be attached to the application.

For the academic year 2025-2026, fee exemption can only be applied for after receiving a positive decision for an afternoon activity spot.
