We are all different.
Our characteristics include age, ethnicity, nationality, language and culture, religion, beliefs, opinions, political views, family background, gender identity, sexual orientation, health, disability, social status, economic status, and other individual factors such as body size or neurological status.
Here, everyone can feel safe to be themselves and feel welcome.
- We are polite and considerate to everyone.
- We respect each other's self-determination. We respect what a person says about themselves.
- Everyone has the right to be treated as they are. Everyone should be able to participate in a way that suits them.
- We make space for each other. We do not disturb others, for example by making noise, touching them without permission or getting too close.
- We pay attention to our choice of words. We do not speak insultingly or disparagingly about others or ourselves.
- We can make mistakes and ask questions, because we don't assume that everyone knows the same things.
- We listen and encourage. We can also disagree constructively.
- Everyone is allowed to exercise without the presumption of weight loss or body shaping. Movement does not have to earn you food, rest or anything else.
- We don't comment on anyone's body without asking permission first. Even a well-meaning comment can violate body peace.
- We will address any inappropriate behavior and work together to create a good, safe atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable participating.
