The customer service point has three floors. For moving around, there is a lift, which can hold a wheelchair that is difficult to perceive; the door opens automatically. There are no accessible parking spaces near the fitness training park. The nearest parking area is located over 100 m from the place. The pick-up and drop-off area is located over 100 m from the fitness training park. A smooth and sufficiently wide fine crushed rock or sand route leads to the fitness training park. The route is illuminated. The route to the outdoor gym has a fairly steep sand-covered uphill and downhill, depending on which direction you approach the outdoor gym from. Developing neighbourhoods

We are developing neighbourhoods in collaboration with other actors for ensuring a pleasant, safe, and smooth everyday life in all neighbourhoods. Targeted neighbourhood development is being carried out in particular in Hervanta, Multisilta and Peltolammi, Kaukajärvi and Annala, and Tesoma. Short-term neighbourhood and suburban programmes have previously been implemented in these areas.

What is South Tampere?

The districts of South Tampere

Annala, Hallila, Hatanpää, Hervanta, Hervantajärvi, Härmälä, Jokipohja, Kaukajärvi, Koivistonkylä, Korkinmäki, Lahdesjärvi, Lakalaiva, Lukonmäki, Multisilta, Muotiala, Nekala, Nirva, Peltolammi, Rantaperkiö, Rautaharkko, Rusko, Sarankulma, Taatala, Turtola, Veisu, Vihioja, Viiala, Viinikka, Vuores.

Kaukajärvi

Kaukajärvi is one of the oldest inhabited areas in Tampere, with settlements dating back to the 800s and 1200s. A cemetery has been found in the area. Kaukajärvi was Tampere's first suburb, with construction starting in the 1960s.

Viiala

The village is mentioned in 1540. In 1950-2000, the writer Kalle Päätalo and his family lived in a house he built himself in Viiala Kirvestie.

Hatanpää Manor

Founded in the 1690s. Kustaa III decided to found Tampere there in 1775 as a guest of the manor's owner Hans Henrik Boije, who sold his Tammerkoski Manor to the crown as part of the future city. The manor was transferred from the Idman family to the City of Tampere in 1913, when it covered an area of 1457 hectares. It included the present districts of Hatanpää, Viinikka, Nekala, Koivistonkylä, Rautaharkko, Härmälä, Lakalaiva, Multisilta, Peltolammi and Sarankulma.

Viinikka

Mentioned in the land register in 1540, Nekala also. A person called Per Neka lived in Nekala, hence the name.

Hervanta

Mentioned in documents as early as 1465. However, when the construction of the Hervanta megalopolis began in the 1970s, the area was forested hinterland. The area long had a troubled reputation (as did very many Finnish suburbs in the 1970s), but today it is one of Tampere's most desirable neighbourhoods. Construction of Hervanta began in 1973, responding to the increase in population caused by the migration of the 1960s. The aim was to make the district an independent subsidiary town with sufficient services, jobs and also educational institutions. The police school and the Tampere University of Technology were among the institutions to be located there. The architects Raili and Reima Pietilä designed the so-called central axis of Hervanta, which included a parish and leisure centre, a shopping centre and an activity centre. They were built in red brick, which, as well as being typical of the Pietilä's, tied Hervanta to the centre of Tampere.
