Personal grants for professional artists

Individuals working as professional artists registered in Tampere can apply for the grant (working in art does not require it to be a full-time job).

Personal Grants may be issued for artistic work, exhibition costs or further training. By further training is meant occupation-supportive supplementary instruction that is nevertheless not intended to lead to a degree. The Personal Grants are incentive funds in format which do not require working without other gainful employment. 

Personal Grants are not issued for:

• activities regarded as hobby/recreation-based
• groups or societies
• an applicant who has been granted a personal grant by the City of Tampere during the previous two years 

Personal Grants for professional artists can be applied for once a year. Personal grants should be applied for via the electronic application form. The electronic application form opens on the website on the starting date of the application period. The next application period is set for 07–30/01/2026, and the applications must be submitted by 30/01/2026, no later than 15:45. Applications arriving late are not processed.

The following matters should be clarified in the application/annexes: 

• plan of how the grant will be used
• budget
• schedule
• description of applicant’s previous operations 

The Culture and Leisure Committee decides on Personal grants for professional artists. The applicant is informed of the decision by email. The grant can be used only for the purpose described in the decision. If the purpose of use is not specified in more detail in the decision, the personal grant must be used for the purpose stated in the application. The grant is paid upon the decision coming into legal force.
