Study on regional reputation: Tampere tops the attractiveness rankings

Tampere remains Finland’s most attractive city, according to the Vetovoima & Pitovoima 2026 survey conducted by Reputation and Trust Analytics. Tampere has held the number-one position every year since the study began in 2020.

Among other things, the study examined perceptions of community spirit and safety in cities, which reflect how pleasant and safe an area is perceived to be.

The Vetovoima & Pitovoima 2026 study measured the regional reputation and attractiveness of Finland’s largest cities, examining how potential residents perceive cities such as Tampere. The survey also assessed regional reputation and retention from the perspective of each city’s own residents.

According to the results, Tampere’s regional reputation score is 3.81 on a scale from 1 to 5. Kuopio has risen close behind with a score of 3.76. Turku recorded the most significant improvement among the cities surveyed.

– We are pleased and proud that Tampere continues to lead this study. The city’s strong appeal has lasted for years, and we know it stems from many factors and strong collaboration. Tampere is more than the sum of its parts, says Anna-Kaisa Heinämäki, Director of Attractiveness and Advocacy.

The study examined, among other things, perceptions of community spirit and safety in cities. The community dimension reflects the view that the area is home to friendly residents and that people living there are doing well. The safety perspective, in turn, describes how pleasant and secure the area is perceived to be.
