What kind of park is it?

Santalahti lakeside park is a functional park area completed in 2020, set against the lakeside scenery of Lake Näsijärvi. It is located in the immediate vicinity of Särkänniemi and Onkiniemi, along the tram line and the main cycling route. The sprawling park offers plenty of space not only for activities but also for simply relaxing and enjoying the natural surroundings. The park is also well-suited for hosting events.

The park has the character of an open green area, and its shoreline areas feature flower beds, ornamental grasses, and shrubs. In the eastern part of the park is a lagoon shore, surrounded by a narrow isthmus with paths and footbridges. Near the lagoon shore, toward Särkänniemi, you’ll find Eliander Beach and a summer kiosk.

The multipurpose field and lawn areas are suitable for a variety of games. For our four-legged friends, the park features a dog park and a designated swimming area for dogs. The park also features a rug-washing area and a public barbecue area. Public restrooms are located near the rug-washing area and the dog park. The public restrooms are open from mid-April through September–October.

The Santalahti boat harbor is located on the west side of Santalahti lakeside park. A summer café and bistro operate at the border between the park and the harbor. In the winter, the area offers convenient access to the recreational skating trails on Lake Näsijärvi.

Earthwork was carried out using soil and demolition materials surplus from nearby construction sites, and the park’s furnishings are also largely made from recycled materials. The area’s sturdy light poles, meanwhile, have been repurposed from Hämeenkatu.
