The Tampere city will provide 16.2 million euros in funding to arts institutions, with the amount remaining at last year's level

The Tampere City Culture and Leisure Committee awarded general and rental subsidies for art institutions for 2026 at its meeting on 12 February 2026. A total of approximately 16.2 million euros in subsidies was distributed.

General subsidies for arts institutions are granted to established cultural and arts institutions and basic arts education institutions with which the city cooperates closely or whose location in Tampere the city has supported. The aim of the grants is to increase the Tampere city's attractiveness and ensure the continued operation of the recipient organizations in Tampere. General grants are awarded to, for example, Tampere Workers' Theater, Tampere Theater, and Tampere Hall, as well as many other organizations such as Sorin Circus and Theater Telakka.

– Tampere has strong and diverse arts institutions, whose network does high-quality work. The grants support high-quality cultural offerings that reach a wide audience in Tampere and increase the city's attractiveness, says Anne-Mari Jussila, Deputy Mayor for Cultural Services.

In addition to general grants, some of the organizations are given free use of city facilities. Facility grants are awarded to, among others, the Pirkanmaa Music Institute, the Tampere Music Institute Foundation, Teatteri Mukamas, Dance Theater Mobita/Dansco, the Finnish Institute for Children’s Literature, the Pyynikki Summer Theater, The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas, and the Finnish Ice Hockey Museum.
