Welcome to learn the basics of association activities

Members of associations’ executive committees are welcome to attend the ABC of Associations training on 9 September 2026. The training will introduce the key practices of association activities and review the duties and responsibilities of an association’s executive committee. Participants will also receive information about the City’s grants.

The ABC of Associations training is open to everyone interested in association activities, but it is aimed especially at people who are members of the executive committee of an association founded by immigrants or of a multicultural association.

The training will take place on the lower ground floor of Tampere City Hall (Aleksis Kiven katu 14–16 C) on Wednesday 9 September 2026 from 17.00 to 19.00. 

Please register by Monday 7 September 2026: Registration form. The training is free of charge.

The training will be provided in Finnish and English. When registering, please select which language you would like to attend in.

Coffee will be served at the event.

Basic information about running an association

The ABC of Associations training will cover the key points of how to manage the affairs of a registered association in accordance with Finnish legislation and the association’s own rules.

Participants will also receive information about the most important duties and responsibilities of an association’s executive committee, as well as about planning the association’s activities, key documents and operational auditing.

The trainers will be Laura Hytti and Marjo Salmela from Järjestöhautomo.

During the latter part of the event, Susanna Lundström and Pia Keltti will present the City of Tampere grants that associations can apply for.

The event is organised by the Finnish Refugee Council’s Järjestöhautomo and the City of Tampere.
