A photography exhibition on the arc of life opens in July at the Stable of the Haihara Art Centre

The group exhibition by the Hajavalo Collective asks what in life is worth holding on to and what, on the contrary, should be let go of.

Life is a constant change, a movement. People age, cities change, nature awakens. The life cycle includes various stages: birth, growth, even death. These bring joy and serenity, but also longing, sorrow, and letting go. Life challenges, sometimes the grip slips. But when you get a good and firm hold of something essential and meaningful - it carries you.

The expression in the exhibition's images ranges from documentary to abstract, and the techniques from digital prints to experimental analog photography. Each photographer in the exhibition has looked towards life and grasped something important to themselves. The photographs in the exhibition follow the growth of a daughter, the transformation of a man, and explore the connection between humans and nature. The images mourn loss and recover from it, look at a vanishing city, and find joy on a magical seaside. A security blanket provides comfort, and hope is found in a beautiful gaze at surprising details - all this is present at the same time in this wonderful life. What should you hold on to - right now?

The photographers of the Hajavalo Collective in this exhibition are: Erika Halonen, Leena Ivalo, Marjut Kankaanpää, Katri Matikainen, Sari Möttönen, Minna Nio-Heikkinen, Nina Pauhu, Essi Peltonen, Anna-Stiina Saarinen, Kari Supponen, Tuomo Tahvanainen, Birgitta Viitamäki, and Wiljami Yrjölä.
