Autumn is coming: schools and recreational activities start, public transport changes to autumn timetables
In early August, many people will return to work or school and get back to their hobbies. As the schools start, so does the registration for different kinds of recreational groups. Tampere Regional Transport Nysse changes to autumn timetables and services. The summer season exceptional opening hours for certain services will end.

Public transport
Nysse changes to winter timetables on 5 August 2026. The changes will mainly concern school routes. For more details, see Nysse’s website:
Basic education
The autumn term for basic education schools in Tampere will begin on Thursday 6 August 2026, as will pre-primary education. You can check the exact start time from the school’s website.
Secondary education
Upper secondary school for young people starts on Thursday 6 August 2026. You can check the start time on the website of your own upper secondary school or in Wilma. Studies at Tampere Upper Secondary School for Adults will start on 7 September.

School year and holidays in upper secondary schools
The studies for Tredu’s new students start on Wednesday 5 August 2026. You can find the start time in the student selection letter. The studies for continuing students start on Monday 10 August according to the programme’s timetable.
Autumn term at the Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region
Registration for the courses of the Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region begins online on 1 August 2026 at noon. We recommend to register online, but you can also register by phone or in person at the offices in Sampola starting Thursday 13 August, and at Ylöjärvi City Hall starting Monday 17 August. The autumn term is from September to November, but courses will be organised throughout the academic year.

The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region
Guided exercise groups in the autumn
Registration for the guided exercise groups of the City of Tampere Sports Services begins on Monday 3 August 2026 at 9.00 for baby swim groups, swimming courses, and exercise groups for people of working age. On Tuesday 4 August at 9.00, application links will also open for a wide range of exercise groups for seniors as well as for adapted physical activity. Registration for family exercise courses and youth training begins on Monday 17 August at 9.00.

The registration for the “Lupa harrastaa” and “Lupa treenata” activities for children and young people in basic education in Tampere begins on Tuesday 17 August 2026 at 18.00.

Cultural courses for families with children
During the autumn, cultural courses will be organised for families with small children in different art forms. Registration for the courses opens on Wednesday 12 August 2026 at 9:00 and Wednesday 23 September at 9:00.
