Autumn is coming: schools and recreational activities start, public transport changes to winter timetables
In August, it is a good idea to take a look at the coming autumn. In early August, many people will return to work or school and get back to their hobbies. As the schools start, so does the registration for different kinds of recreational groups. Tampere Regional Transport Nysse changes to winter timetables and services. The summer season exceptional opening hours for certain services will end.

Start of basic education
The autumn term for basic education schools in Tampere will begin on Wednesday 9 August 2023, as will pre-primary education. You can check the exact start time from the school’s website.
Start of secondary education
Upper secondary school for young people starts on Wednesday 9 August 2023. You can check the start time on the website of your own upper secondary school or in Wilma.

School year and holidays in upper secondary schools
The studies for Tredu’s new students start on Thursday 3 August 2023. You can find the start time in the student selection letter. The studies for continuing students start on Monday 7 August 2023 according to the programme’s timetable.
Autumn term at the Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region
Registration for the courses of the Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region begins online on 1 August 2023 at noon, and you can register at the offices from Monday 14 August 2023 onwards. Read more about the autumn courses online or from the brochure distributed to homes in Tampere and Ylöjärvi on 26 July 2023. The autumn term at the centre will officially begin on 4 September 2023, but courses will be organised throughout the academic year.

Guided exercise groups in the autumn
Registration for the guided exercise groups of the City of Tampere Sports Services begins on Monday 7 August at 9:00 for baby swim groups, first level swimming courses, and exercise groups for people of working age. On Tuesday 8 August at 9:00, application links will also open for a wide range of exercise groups for ages 60+ and 75+ as well as for special groups. During the autumn season, there will also be exercise groups for families and young people free of charge. Registration for family exercise courses begins on 16 August at 9:00.

Recreational activities for school children
The registration for the “Lupa harrastaa” and “Lupa treenata” activities for children and young people in basic education in Tampere begins on Monday 14 August at 18:00.

Cultural courses for families with children
During the autumn, cultural courses will be organised for families with small children in different art forms. Registration for the courses opens on 16 August 2023 at 9:00 and Wednesday 27 September at 9:00.
