Nysse's line renewal for 2028 gets underway
Nysse has begun planning its route network for 2028. Significant changes will be made to the transport system at that time: super bus routes 7 and 8 will begin operating, the tramway will be extended from Sorn aukio to Partola, and several of Nysse's transport contracts will expire.
Nysse has launched route planning for 2028. The project plan was presented to the Tampere City Region Public Transport Committee on March 4, 2026.
Significant changes will be made to the transport system on August 7, 2028: super bus lines 7 and 8 will start operating, the tramway will be extended from Sorin aukio to Partola, and several of Nysse's transport contracts will expire. The route reform will combine the tramway, super bus lines, and other bus services into a unified whole.
The route plan covers the entire Tampere region, but the focus is on South Tampere and Pirkkala. The planning is being carried out in close cooperation with residents. Information is being gathered through surveys and various events, and comprehensive data on passenger and resident numbers, workplace information, and mobility needs is being compiled.
- Previous route changes have shown that public transport use has increased in areas where the service has been developed. Nysse's values – easy, carefree, innovative, developing, influential, and responsible – guide route planning. Customer feedback and participation help to create a route network that local residents can embrace, believes public transport planner Leena Huhtala.
The first phase of planning will begin in the spring, and a draft of the new route network will be published for residents to comment on in early autumn. Final decisions will be made at the end of 2026, and the new route network will be introduced in August 2028.
Nysse's route planners will be available to meet Tampere residents on the following evenings:
- Peltolammi on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m.
- Nekala on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m.
- Kaukajärvi on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m.
