The opening week of the Hervanta Leisure Center will be celebrated during winter holiday week

The opening week offers a varied exercise program for all ages, as well as guided tours of the renovated facilities. In addition, the new Hehku youth centre, which operates in connection with the center, will open its doors.

During the opening week, visitors can check out the upcoming activities for free during trial sessions held daily from morning to evening in different parts of the leisure center. Seniors can enjoy fitness classes and body maintenance, while families can take part in family sports classes and family gymnastics classes. The youngest members of the family can try out mother-baby Pilates. Young people can try out boxing, table tennis, basketball, and wrestling, or just come and hang out with their friends.

Hehku Youth Centre offers a wide range of activities for vacationers

The Hervanta Leisure Center's own youth centre, Hehku, opens on Tuesday with a program of sweet cooking. On Wednesday, young people can enjoy a board game evening, darts, and cooking savory treats. On Thursday, visitors to Hehku can get help with finding a summer job.

Hehku's new disco hall will welcome its first dancers on Friday at an opening disco for 3rd to 6th graders. The disco fun will continue on Saturday, when Hehku will be taken over by UMK fever in the youth's own UMK competition viewing area. All of Hehku's activities, except for the opening disco, are aimed at 13–20-year-olds.

Coffee service and guided tours

During the opening week, visitors will be treated to coffee and buns. Coffee will be served every day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the first 200 visitors. In addition, several guided tours will be organized in the building, allowing visitors to explore the renovated facilities and activities. Tours will be held Monday through Saturday at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. (except Thursday at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.). Tours will depart from the lobby of staircase A.

Idea workshop invites city residents to help develop a community meeting place

On Tuesday and Wednesday, 24–25 February, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can come to the café to brainstorm ideas for community activities with city employees. Participation is easy and you can come according to your own schedule. A summary of the ideas will be presented at the Hervanta Tampere Residents’ Evening in March, and the ideas will be used in planning the café's activities. The development of a community café space is part of the Kaikkien Tampere (Tampere For All) development program launched by the mayor.

A meeting place for youth sports

The renovation of the Hervanta Leisure Center has focused strongly on young people and their everyday lives. The program is being planned based on the wishes expressed by young people, and guided activities form a significant part of the weekly program and give rhythm to the center's activities.

- The Hervanta Leisure Center will be home to Tampere's first youth sports center. The goal is to make this a place where young people can come without any pressure to perform. Here, they can exercise, try new things, and just be themselves, says Heli Lapinkoski, coordinator of youth services for the City of Tampere.

Although young people are at the heart of the reform, the center will continue to serve city residents of all ages. Exercise groups and course-based exercise classes for senior citizens will continue as before. The gyms, which will open later in the spring, will also be available to everyone for a reasonable one-time fee.
