Haihara invites you to join in the springtime fun

Haihara’s spring season offers a rich selection of free community events, theatre performances and dance evenings for everyone. The development work carried out last years brought many new programme elements to Haihara, several of which will continue this year. Haihara is strengthening its role as a cultural gem of the area by offering activities throughout the winter season as well.

The spring program includes both familiar events that continue decades-old traditions and new initiatives. Kaukajärvi Winter Day, which kicks off the winter break, will be held on Sunday, February 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This annual event for the whole family, organized by local associations and communities, offers outdoor activities, puppet theater, activity stations, and delicious treats. This year's performer is Nukketeatteri-ANNOS, whose show Hölmöläisten hommaa will be performed at 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.

The colorful Spring Carnival on Friday, March 20, from 3 to 6 p.m. was very popular last year and is once again part of the program for Anti-Racism Week and the ARMAS festival for seniors. The event will feature art workshops, music and dance performances, a fashion show, a photo exhibition, ethnic food, and a photo wall. Models are now being sought for the fashion show – anyone from Tampere who wants to showcase historical or traditional costumes from their own culture is welcome to sign up. The carnival will culminate in a concert at the manor house, which will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Ewa Kaarela Swing band.

The spring program also includes theater performances for adults and dance evenings with lessons and record dances. Theater will be provided by Tampereen Liikkuva Näyttämö, whose popular Rautatie will be performed on January 31 at 1 p.m. in the manor hall. The ARMAS festival on March 22 at 3 p.m. will feature the premiere of the touring theater Ritvalalaiset kollektiivi's rural comedy Emma ja Katariina, which will also be performed the following week at Kulttuuritalo Laikku and Lielahti Manor. The themes for the spring dance evenings are Arabic dance in March, lindy hop in April, and Argentine tango in May.

The first exhibition of the spring will open at Stable on May 9, featuring works by Outileena Uotila and Leena Hyttinen. The manor is available for rent for parties throughout May. In the summer, the exhibition spaces and outdoor areas of the Haihara Art Centre will be taken over by the Taidevaltakunta Biennial from June 13 to August 16.

The spring and early summer program will be complemented by the Haihara Awakens! summer opening event, which will take place throughout the area on Sunday, May 24, from 1 to 6 p.m. The event is organized in collaboration with local associations and will feature community herb planting, performances, bands, activity stations, and delicious food. The event invites people of all ages to celebrate the beginning of summer together.

Haihara events are regularly updated on the website, social media channels, and the Tampere event calendar, where you can find the latest information about the program.
