From 7 October to 18 October.

On That Day – exhibition on the chain of freedom

In 1989, more than two million people took each other by the hand and formed a human chain through Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to demand freedom and peacefully resist the occupying power. The exhibition is based on a book of the same name, written by Eppu Nuotio and illustrated by Sanna Pelliccioni, which tells the story of the Baltic Chain through the eyes of a child.

Opening of the exhibition on Saturday 10 October from 11 am to 4 pm.

Art Friday in Haihara 16 October

Free art workshops open to everyone 16 October at 14.00-17.00 at Haihara Manor.

What’s the best thing about my house? Is it the cosy bed, the kitchen table, cool toys or perhaps the people I share it with? Or my brilliant neighbourhood?

Be inspired by homes and the feeling of being at home in this guided art workshop. Drop in and stay as long as you like! Display your work alongside other participants on a communal art wall that keeps taking shape throughout the event. Together, we’ll be able to identify the most valuable aspects of home.

Vapriikki

The revamped Finnish Game Museum opens, and that’s just the start!

Vapriikki’s autumn holiday week 12–16 October offers five different themes and hours upon hours of activities for the whole family. Retro games, the history of Tampere, hidden treasures, the thrill of sport, a trick school, crafts and adventures. There’s a different reason to visit Vapriikki every day!

Exhibitions and the programme are included in the admission price.

Moomin Museum

The Moomin Museum has a special programme for schoolchildren from 10 to 18 October. The museum is closed on Monday 12 October.

  • In the studio, visitors can design and paint illustrations for Moomin mugs, inspired by the new ‘Moomin Mug Mania’ exhibition.
  • Every day at 2.00 pm (3.00 pm on Sundays), the museum offers a Moomin-themed guided tour in Finnish.

The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas

There’s loads of free stuff to do at Werstas during the autumn holiday.

The play construction site is back to delight young builders. Play bricks and mini tools are once again ready for building games.

Children’s own play shop, Osuusliike Vekara, for shop-keeping games can be found in the ‘Yhteisvoimin’ exhibition.

Don’t forget the museum treasure hunt and the Viiperi Mouse’s mouse holes to be found in the Industry Museum.

Creepy Carnival

Exciting activities and a night-time carnival ambiance in Särkänniemi on 2–4 October and 8–17 October 2026. Family-friendly during the day, but after dark, horror attractions come alive for older guests.

Outdoor and hiking activities

Want to go on a forest trip? Autumn holidays are a good opportunity to visit nearby nature sites. Take advantage of the map service, where you can find hiking routes, campfire sites and services.
