Music rooms

You can book the music room in the main library Metso, Lielahti or Hervanta. Koilliskeskus also has a music space. You can see the booking instructions below for each library. 

Using the music room is free of charge. 

Main library Metso

The music section in the main library's upper floor has three music rooms. The facilities are equipped with: 

Music Room 1: An acoustic piano. Devices for listening to CDs. The possibility to connect your own device with a miniplug. 

Music Room 2: An acoustic piano. Devices for listening to CDs. The possibility to connect your own device with a miniplug. 

Rockway room: All Rockway content and recording software are available. Electric drums, electric guitar, electric bass, acoustic guitar and ukulele are available to customers. The Rockway room is intended for the use, practising and learning related to courses and content provided by music courses. As a rule, the space is intended for learning to play an instrument independently. 

The music section also has a digital piano that does not need to be booked. Music rooms and Rockway room can be booked through the booking system. You can book rooms for one hour per day. The booking will expire if you do not arrive within 10 minutes of the start of the booking.

Hervanta Library

Hervanta Library has a piano room and a multipurpose room. In the multipurpose room, you can play your own instruments and sing, for example.

The rooms can be booked using the booking system. You will need a library card and a PIN code to make a booking.

The piano room can be booked for one hour per day. The multipurpose room can be booked for two hours per day. Please note Your booking will be canceled if you do not arrive within 10 minutes of the start of your booking.

Koilliskeskus

In the renovated MUSA room at Koilliskeskus, you can sing and play electric drums (Roland TD-17), digital piano, acoustic guitar, bass and electric guitar, ukulele, and your own instruments. The room has amplifiers for instruments and the possibility to listen to music. You can also record your ideas or make a podcast, for example, using the Zoom H4 recorder and microphones available at the service desk. The microphones are available on weekdays after 5 p.m. and on Saturdays during all service hours. You can also record to your own computer via the USB connector on the mixer in the room.

You can book the music room using the booking system or by phone. The music room can be booked for two hours at a time. Please note! Your booking will be canceled if you do not arrive within 10 minutes of the start of your booking.

Lielahti library

Välke is a music room equipped with the most common band instruments as well as recording facilities. The room has string instruments, electric drums, a digital piano, a MIDI keyboard, and other equipment needed for recording and making music.

Please note before making a booking

  • The age limit for the Lielahti music room is 15 years. Children under the age of 15 are welcome in the music room either accompanied by an adult or with a reservation made by an adult.
  • Music room bookings cannot be chained, meaning that the same group cannot make several consecutive bookings for the same room.
  • A booking will be canceled if the person who made the booking does not arrive within 10 minutes of the start of the booking.
  • The music room is recommended for a maximum of four people at a time.
