Sports and exercise facilities

Indoor sports facilities for almost every needs

There are swimming pools and sports halls in Tampere in several districts. Gyms are available both indoors and outdoors. In the biggest sports halls, high-quality leagues are played in both volleyball and basketball. The Tampere Exhibition and Sports Center is available to athletes whenever the hall is not in exhibition use. In Nääshalli Sports Hall, you can practice boxing, weightlifting, several different budo sports, table tennis, fencing and other indoor sports.

Plenty of opportunities for outdoor exercise

In summer, the proximity of the lakes provides great opportunities for water sports such as swimming, canoeing, paddle boarding, boating and rowing. The outdoor trails invite you to jog, and in winter, our well-maintained cross-country skiing tracks invite you to enjoy the fresh air. Fans of ball games can use several ball courts, whose shifts are mainly distributed to clubs, as well as tennis and beach volleyball courts.

Tampere is also home to Iso-Vilunen skatepark, which is said to be the finest in Finland, and a world-class frisbee golf course in Alasjärvi. In frosty winters, several skating rinks are frozen, and the artificial ice rinks in Sorsapuisto and Koulukatu allow ice skating even in less cold weather.
