Tell us briefly about your journey to Tampere and how you ended up here?
My roads seemed to always lead towards Finland. From fixation about Janne Ahonen and The Rasmus to finally visiting in 2014 for short time. Here comes 2015, I moved to Porvoo as au pair living with most wonderful family. Fast forward to 2016 and I have moved permanently to Tampere to live with my partner and build a life in this wonderful and lovely city.
What do you love most about living in Tampere?
Diversity, which is met with Finnish acceptance of it around. Tampere became more diverse culturally in the last 10 years and I am here for it. Our common goal should be to build the city and country for everyone who cares for it and cherishes the city and country as a whole. Why I love Tampere so much is for the open mind and the entrepreneurial mindset of constant development it has. Of course I love the nature as well and as I grow older I cherish every moment I can spend in the forest or park, there is so many amazing places to see around!
Why would you encourage international talents to move to Tampere?
If you are looking for moderate speed of life, opportunities for growing family, safety, good schools, diverse environment and nature at your doorstep - Tampere is for you.
What is your favorite place, and your favorite thing to do in Tampere?
Vikinsaari, Laukontori, Keskustori, I have so many favorite places. My favorite thing to do in Tampere is to explore! Explore new restaurants that take you to different sides of the globe. Learn yourself within nature and expose yourself to it so you know the full meaning of its impact on the culture and environment around you.
How would you describe Tampere as a city, what makes it special?
Tampere is a city that saw its potential and took ownership in both hands. Tampere leads the change and keeps growing, developing and learning from the ever changing world - that is what makes Tampere extra special.
Is there anything else you would like to share with potential newcomers that make Tampere a great place to live and work?
Embrace the change to what you know. Be ready to reborn in your old body but new mind. Don't forget where you come from but pick the best from where you originated from and mix it all together with what you meet. That is a path to success and don't fight it. Finland as well as Tampere is an amazing country with its own downsides but once you open yourself to learn, explore and embrace the change... it will magically take you in and it will become home.
