Sports and entertainment events of different sizes can be organised at Tampere Stadium all year round. The indoor sports facilities can be used for various arrangements during the event.

Thanks to the artificial turf with under-soil heating, which meets the international standards for football, the playing season can start as early as April and go on until late in the autumn. The Stadium’s lighting and athletics venues also meet international requirements.

Some of the facilities are used by the Sports Services. There are around 16 000 seats at Tampere stadium, 4 000 of which are located under a roof in the main stand. When the field area is in use, for example at concerts, the audience capacity goes up to about 30 000 people in total.

Responsible event organisers

Once the date of the event has been agreed and a preliminary booking of the Stadium has been made with the City of Tampere's Sports Services, it is time to start the more detailed planning of the event. The event organiser must appoint a single person who is responsible for the entire content of the event and also for any subcontractors used by the organiser.

The City of Tampere’s Sports Services, on the other hand, will assign its own contact person to the event organiser, with whom matters related to the event can be decided. The Stadium has an advisory service for event organisers, which you can contact for more detailed advice on the use of the Stadium if necessary.

The event organiser independently handles any permits issued by the authorities for the event. The number of permits required depends on the nature and scale of the event. The most common necessary permits are permission from the owner of the event venue, notification of a public event to the police, a permit for work carried out in a street and a licence for serving alcohol. Events may not be organised without the necessary permits and licences, and if the organiser does not have them, the police have the right to stop the event.

The process of organizing events

An initial review is arranged before setting up for the event begins. The review covers all facilities leased by the event organiser, and their condition at the time of delivery is checked. If necessary, the facilities are also photographed. An initial review is conducted of both indoor and outdoor facilities. The event plan must be approved by the Sports Services contact person.

The plan should contain the measures required for setting up, the actual event, and dismantling of structures after the event. The plan must clearly identify the structures and services used at the event, the order of their construction and demolition, and the equipment used for construction and demolition. The plan describes the schedule, organisation and employees of the event, the public's arrival and exit routes to and from the event, and any parking arrangements. The event plan must include a safety plan. A lease is drawn up, which describes the booking period, the leased facilities and the ordered services. The completed and approved plans and a certificate of the insurance which the lessor must take out to cover any damage to the Stadium are attached to the lease.

The organiser sets up for the event following the approved event plan. The Stadium can be used to organise high-quality sports events, but the setting intended for sports events restricts the construction of other events. If necessary, the turf area and running track must be protected following instructions issued by the Sports Services.

No structures may be placed in the turf area, and the turf area cannot be crossed in the setting up or demolition stage. The Sports Services marks the turf area out of bounds while the organiser is setting up for the event and dismantling structures. The only event structure that can be built in the turf area is an FOH mixing booth for concerts. The transport of the booth to the turf area will be agreed upon separately and carried out by the Sports Services personnel using their equipment. The Stadium personnel will provide the event organiser with protective boards for the turf area, which the organiser will install following the instructions issued. The protective boards may remain in place for no more than 72 hours. Subject to discretion in individual cases, structures may be built in the turf area if they can be set up without damaging the turf.

The event plan should also show the locations of portable toilets to be brought into the Stadium. Toilets may not be placed in the turf area. If toilets are placed on the running track, protection must be installed between the toilet and the running track surface to prevent the toilet contents from reaching the track coating in case of a spill. The toilets must be washed outside the Stadium, and the use of a suction truck is subject to a separate agreement.

The Stadium stands are divided into blocks as shown in the map attachment. If the organiser wishes to add or remove seats, this work will be carried out by the Sports Services subject to a separate charge.

The Stadium has modern audio and results service systems that are operated by Sports Service personnel. If the event organiser wishes to operate these systems themselves, training in their use must be agreed on separately. The lighting in the field and stand area is intended and dimensioned for sports events, but it is also available for other events if necessary. The stadium has several power points, the locations of which are shown on the attached map. The use of all technical facilities of the Stadium is subject to a separate agreement, their use must be described in the event plan, and the costs must be itemised in the Stadium's lease.

After the event, the Stadium and its facilities must be returned to the condition specified at the initial review and on the schedule set down in the lease. Before the facilities are handed over, a final review will be carried out of the facilities used by the event organiser to agree on any repair needs and the methods in which the repairs will be carried out. If necessary, the Sports Services will have the repairs made on behalf of the event organiser and invoice their costs to the organiser. At the final review, a general feedback discussion on the event, its organisation and the Sports Services’ contribution to it takes place. Feedback provided by event organisers will help to organise better and more smoothly running events at Finland's premium Stadium.
