Customer service and the café-restaurant at the City Hall will open at the beginning of June

The first floor of the new City Hall will open for residents on 1 June 2026. The customer service facilities in the renovated and extended City Hall will house the Tampere service point, the Registry office of the City of Tampere, Nysse customer service and cash services. These services will move to the City Hall from Frenckell.

On the moving day, 29 May, customer service at Frenckell will be closed to visitors, but services will be available as usual by phone and online.

After the move, the opening hours and services of all operators will remain unchanged.

Customer service will be smooth and accessible

Residents of Tampere will be welcomed at the City Hall customer service point in new, modern premises.

– Although more and more people use online services and these services are being actively developed, visitors have not been forgotten. The premises are pleasant, and a great deal of attention has been paid to ensuring a smooth customer experience, says Administrative Manager Riikka Kimpanpää.

– The customer service facilities will also make it possible to provide services beyond the operations moving from Frenckell this June, and the premises will be developed further according to need. The client computers in the lobby can be used for accessing City of Tampere services and searching for information. Use of the client computers is free of charge for customers, and they can be used without an appointment.

Accessibility has been taken into account in the new premises better than in the previous ones. Most of the services in the lobby use a queue number system. Thanks to the system, customers can also wait for their turn elsewhere than in the waiting area. In addition, the premises serve customers who have booked appointments with the agreed parties.

Café-restaurant Viistokatu is also open to residents

A café-restaurant open to everyone, Viistokatu, will also open on the first floor, and it will also have a terrace. The opening hours are being planned to serve both City Hall staff and residents. The service will be provided by Compass Group, which operates 530 restaurants across Finland.

The restaurant listened to users’ wishes on the basis of a food preference survey carried out for them. The planning of the lunches has taken into account the qualities emphasised in the responses: deliciousness, healthiness and variety. The café will serve breakfast, sweet pastries, savoury snacks and soup.

The City Hall is located at Aleksis Kiven katu 14–16. The customer service lobby can be accessed directly through door B. City of Tampere services and operations will move to the City Hall in stages during the spring and summer.
