Employers are supported in employing young people with Summer Job Voucher: City of Tampere doubles the vouchers available

Applications for Summer Job Vouchers will open at the beginning of April. The City of Tampere is supporting summer employment for young people by doubling the number of Summer Job Vouchers compared to last year. There are 1,500 Summer Job Vouchers available. The Summer Job Voucher is a financial subsidy worth 320€ paid to employers for hiring summer workers under the age of 18.

Employers can apply for summer job vouchers between April 1 and July 31. The vouchers are intended for young people born between 2008 and 2011 who live in Tampere. Young people hired with summer job vouchers must be under 18 years of age for the entire duration of their summer job.

– Tampere is investing to the well-being and skills of young people. Summer Job Vouchers are a concrete way of ensuring that more and more young people have access to working life. We want every young person in Tampere to have the opportunity to gain their first work experience, says Mayor Ilmari Nurminen.

– Most jobs are found through the young person's own efforts, but the voucher is seen as a concrete advantage in job hunting. Many employers have used the voucher for several summers in a row, which indicates that it is a successful model, says Regina Saari, Director of Employment and Growth in the City of Tampere.

Both young people and employers benefit from the Summer Job Voucher

Applying for a Summer Job Voucher is easy. The young person and the employer fill out an application together on the city's website before the summer job begins. Young people can be granted one voucher per summer. During the summer, employers have the opportunity to hire 10 young people with Summer Job Vouchers.

When the young person's summer job has ended, the employer applies for the Summer Job Voucher compensation using an online form. The payment application is open from June 1st to September 20th, 2026. A salary certificate and a signed work certificate must be attached to the application.

In addition, Summer Entrepreneurship Vouchers are available for young people born between 2005 and 2011 who live in Tampere and want to employ themselves through their own business activities.
