Updated: night works on Puutarhakatu continue, and access changes from July onwards

Night work will continue from 14 to 16 July 2025, which will affect access to properties and the use of sewers. Surface works on Aleksis Kivi Street will also affect movement in the Frenckell area.

Night work will be carried out in the Näsilinnankatu-Hämeenpuisto block area between 22.00 and 06.00 on 14-16 July. The team will arrive at the site before this time to prepare traffic arrangements and construction equipment.

In the Näsilinnankatu-Hämeenpuisto block area, the water supply trench will advance towards Hämeenpuisto, and access to properties will be changed to via Näsilinnankatu as the work progresses. Separate notices of the traffic shift will be distributed to the properties affected by the shift.

At Kuninkaankulma, the water supply trench is halfway between Näsilinnankatu and Kuninkaankatu. The works in front of the Vapaakirkko church will shift access to the properties via Kuninkaankatu. There is one known water cut to Vapaakirkko in the block area, of which Tampere Water has informed the properties affected.

Night work on Puutarhakatu is due to the connection of the properties' stormwater and sewage drains. These works will affect driving to the property and the use of the sewers. Vehicular access to the yard areas will be cut off during this night period. Emergency vehicle access to properties will be provided where necessary.

The work team at the Kuninkaankatu junction will work the night shift on Näsilinnankatu, which means that work at the Kuninkaankatu junction will be temporarily blocked. While work continues as normal, underground structures will be installed on the north side of the junction, which will entail minor changes to the light traffic routes in the junction area.

In Hämeenpuisto, surface works may start towards the end of week 29.

Surface works on Aleksis Kivi street will start on 14 July, and rock formations will be removed in the Kuninkaankatu-Näsilinnankatu block area

The site will be shifted to a single shift from 7 July for the summer holiday period, with working hours generally remaining between 06.00 and 22.00.

Surface works on Aleksis Kivi Street will start on 14 July at the Office Building, affecting access to Frenckell and its parking garages. This resurfacing work is a separate project from the renovation of the Puutarhakatu.

In the Hämeenpuisto-Näsilinnankatu block area, the renovation of the stormwater and sewage line will continue from the property at Puutarhakatu 23 towards Hämeenpuisto. As a result, access to the properties will be changed to via Näsilinnankatu as the work progresses.

Night work is foreseen when the waste water and sewage lines of the properties are connected to the trunk lines of Puutarhakatu. This will minimize the inconvenience to properties due to the connection work. Night work will be announced separately, at the latest the day before the night work.

Work at the junction of Kuninkaankatu and Puutarhakatu will continue with the installation of the district cooling line and the electrical and telecommunications piping. Underground works on the north side of the junction will be carried out before the traffic is shifted to Satakunnankatu. This will avoid frequent changes in traffic patterns, making it easier for users in the area to adapt to exceptional situations caused by the works.

In the Kuninkaankatu-Näsilinnankatu block area, the removal of rock deposits causes noise. Drilling will be avoided in the evening if possible. Changes in access to properties in the block area are expected as the excavation progresses towards Näsilinnankatu. There are still rock deposits in the excavation, which will be drilled as the excavation progresses towards Näsilinnankatu.

The completion rate of the water supply works in the Puutarhakatu renovation project is close to 50 percent. Construction of the surface works is scheduled to start in mid-July, so the work is progressing according to schedule.

The news has been updated with the schedules for night works on 7 July 2025 at 14:30 and 11 July 2025 at 16:00.
