Take part

English-language Tampere Residents' Evening on 5 November 2026

The English-language Tampere Residents’ Evening is an opportunity to discuss the city and current issues. The event is free of charge and open to everyone, and Tampere’s international residents are particularly welcome to attend.

Tampere Residents’ Evenings are relaxed and welcoming events where residents can hear about current issues in Tampere and share their views on the city and its development. The evenings also feature music or other cultural performances and provide an opportunity to learn about the work of local associations and other organisations.

At all Tampere Residents’ Evenings, you can ask questions and take part in discussions in English as well as Finnish. Once a year, however, a Tampere Residents’ Evening is held primarily in English.

The English-language Tampere Residents’ Evening on 5 November 2026 will be hosted by Sean Ricks. Deputy Mayor Jaakko Mustakallio will also take part.

The evening will begin with coffee and a musical performance by Peter Darryl Kengne.

The programme includes two panel discussions: Your voice matters – Participating in Tampere and What should Tampere do better for international residents? The audience will also have the opportunity to take part in the discussion.

The panellists are:

  • Tampere resident Maryam Mohammadian
  • Giulia Mason, an early childhood education teacher originally from Italy
  • entrepreneur and Tribe Tampere member Katerina Crawford
  • musician Peter Darryl Kengne
  • Deputy Mayor of Tampere Jaakko Mustakallio
  • Lilli Siikasmaa, Planner at the City of Tampere

During the Tampere Residents’ Evening, you can also learn more about the activities of the Tampere–Tartu Society and Tampere Photographic Society, the City for Everyone development programme and the international youth work of the City of Tampere’s Youth Services.
