Tampere’s city centre is undergoing a renewal in accordance with a city centre development programme approved by the City Board and the city strategy. Since 2011, the development work has been coordinated, promoted and implemented by the Five-Star City Centre development programme.

Tampere City Centre Development Programme

The city centre is under renewal by the entire City organisation, based on a collaboratively drawn-up, comprehensive operative plan. The development programme sets out, for example, the vision, concept and objectives for the development of the city centre, in addition to outlining the necessary measures up until the year 2040.
