Development grants for culture

Registered cultural organizations in Tampere are eligible to apply for the grant.

Funding may be awarded, in accordance with the grant criteria, for:

• Building and developing cooperation networks between cultural and artistic communities
• Experiments and developing working methods (e.g., new operating models, concepts, spatial solutions)
• Developing expertise
• Applying for EU funding

Development projects supported by separate appropriations:

• development of new, growing, and/or emerging festivals (e.g., audience profiles, communications, networks)
• development of cultural activities that reach neighbourhood development target areas and/or monitoring areas. (More information about neighbourhood development target and monitoring areas is available on this website.)

• For the basic activities of organizations, which are mainly supported by general grants
• For the production of artistic works
• For recordings and publications
• For investments and the acquisition or renovation of real estate or movable property
• Business activities or activities whose potential profits are used for the benefit of their owners
• As the sole source of funding for a development project

Applications for Development grants are accepted 1–4 times a year.

The grant is primarily applied for using an electronic application form.

The grant application and/or separate attachments must include the following information:

• The action plan for the development project
• The cost estimate and financing plan for the development project
• The schedule
• A description of any potential partners (if any)

The Head of Public Cultural Services decides on development grants. Applicants will be notified of the decision via email.

The grant may only be used for the purpose specified in the decision. If the grant decision does not specify the purpose of use in detail, the grant must be used for the purpose stated in the application.

Grants are paid once the decision to award the grant has become final, unless the decision specifies a different payment schedule or conditions for the payment of the grant. 

When communicating that city funding has been received, the Tampere.Finland logo should be used. The logo can be downloaded from the City of Tampere’s brand website. Using a unified logo strengthens Tampere’s visibility, recognition, and attractiveness.

Once the development project has been completed, a report on the use of the grant must be submitted by the date specified in the decision.
