What kind of park is it?

Kiovanpuisto is located west of the Tampere Swimming Centre and extends west to Kaupinkatu. To the east of the swimming centre, the green area continues as Kaleva Central Park. Most of Kiovanpuisto is part of Kaleva, a nationally significant built cultural environment site. A new playground was opened next to the playing field in 2023 and features a variety of equipment: slides, swings, climbing frames, a carousel and park instruments.

What does the park look like?

Friendship city sculpture Kiev - Tampere

The sculpture depicts two naked women standing opposite each other carrying a large open ring. One holds the ring with both hands, the other with her left hand.

The sculpture by sculptor Anneli Sipiläinen was unveiled at the Friends of Finland and the Soviet Union meeting in August 1981. Kiev in Ukraine has been Tampere's first twin city since 1954. In autumn 2004, a plaque was added to the sculpture to mark the 50th anniversary of the twinning project.
