A company may receive recruitment subsidy of up to 6 000 euros when it hires an eligible unemployed job seeker from Tampere for at least 12 months. A maximum of one million euros has been granted for the subsidy in 2027, with the aim of helping 200 job seekers into employment.
The new subsidy replaces the current employer recruitment allowance and recruitment bonus, which will no longer be in use after the end of 2026. The recruitment subsidy aims to improve, in particular, the opportunities of people who have been unemployed for a long time to return to working life.
– Through the recruitment subsidy, we are building concrete pathways back into work for the long-term unemployed, whilst at the same time lowering the threshold for companies to hire. The aim for the subsidy is to lead to long-term employment as often as possible and to meet employers’ actual labour needs,” says Regina Saari, Director of Employment and Growth.
Job opportunities for young people beyond the summer job season
The committee also decided to expand the youth summer job voucher into a seasonal job voucher. The reform will increase young people’s opportunities to gain work experience throughout the year. It also gives employers more flexibility to hire young people according to seasonal fluctuations. The seasonal job voucher is planned to be introduced as early as the 2026 Christmas season.
The seasonal job voucher is intended for young people in Tampere who are aged between 15 and 18 during the application year. Further details on how to apply for the seasonal job voucher and the practical arrangements will be provided when applications open later this year.
– Increasing job opportunities for Tampere residents in different life situations strengthens the vitality of the whole city. Recruitment subsidy helps open doors back into the work life, and the seasonal job voucher gives young people new opportunities to gain valuable work experience even outside the summer job season, says Deputy Mayor Jaakko Mustakallio.
