Join a Residents’ Evening to discuss city matters with the Mayor, Deputy Mayors and the Chair of the City Council

The first Residents’ Evening of the autumn 2026 season will take place at Tampere City Hall on Tuesday 8 September 2026. At this open event, residents will have the opportunity to hear about, ask questions on and discuss current city matters with the Mayor, Deputy Mayors and the Chair of the City Council. Questions can be submitted in advance until 23 August 2026.

The City of Tampere organises an annual Residents’ Evening, where the Mayor, Deputy Mayors and the Chair of the City Council meet residents and discuss issues that matter to them.

This year’s event will take place on Tuesday 8 September 2026 from 17.00 to 19.00 in the Näsijärvi Hall at Tampere City Hall (Aleksis Kiven katu 14–16 C). Coffee will be served from 16.30 onwards.

Participants attending the event at City Hall are asked to register using the online form no later than Tuesday 1 September 2026. Places are limited to 130 participants and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event can also be followed via a live stream on the Tampere Channel. The live stream can be viewed without registration.

The registration form can also be used to sign up for guided tours of City Hall, which will take place at 12.00 and 16.00. Each tour lasts approximately 30–40 minutes, and both tours can accommodate 15 participants.

Questions in advance

The Residents’ Evening will feature Mayor Ilmari Nurminen, Deputy Mayors Jaakko Mustakallio and Ilkka Porttikivi, and Chair of the City Council Kalervo Kummola. The event will be hosted by Director of Communications Katja Kannonlahti.

– Residents can ask questions about the city, its operations and services. It is worth submitting questions in advance, as discussions at Residents’ Evenings are often so lively that the audience attending in person only has time to ask a few questions, says Jarno Koskinen, Regional coordinator responsible for the Residents’ Evenings.

Accessibility information for Tampere City Hall

Tampere City Hall is located at Aleksis Kiven katu 14–16 C. The main entrance is through Entrance C.

  • There are two accessible parking spaces in front of City Hall. Additional accessible parking spaces are available at Frenckell Square.
  • A drop-off area is available in front of the main entrance.
  • An audio beacon at the main entrance plays the sound of a nightingale.
  • There is a vestibule at the main entrance. Both doors can be opened using a push button located on a pillar to the right of the outer door.
  • There are no thresholds in the vestibule.
  • Inside, the lobby has a smooth floor surface. The floor in the Näsijärvi Hall is carpeted.
  • A tactile guidance strip in the lobby leads to the accessible toilet facilities and the restaurant, but does not extend all the way to the Näsijärvi Hall.
  • There are two accessible toilets on the ground floor: one in the lobby opposite the information desk, and another in the corridor between Entrance D and the restaurant dining area.
  • A baby care room is located in the corridor between Entrance D and the restaurant dining area.
  • An induction loop system is available on the ground floor of City Hall.
  • Assistance dogs and guide dogs are welcome in the building.

City Hall staff are available to assist with accessibility-related matters when needed.
