Three Tampere Residents’ Evenings next autumn – the season kicks off with a residents’ event hosted by the mayor and the chair of the city council
The Tampere Residents’ Evenings, open to everyone, will continue next autumn. The season kicks off in September with a residents’ evening hosted by the mayor and the chair of the city council. In October, there will be an evening in Tesoma, and in November, an English-language Tampere Residents' Evening event will be held.
Tampere Residents’ Evenings are public events open to all residents, where participants can learn about current issues in the city and share their views. Their aim is to strengthen residents’ opportunities to participate, have an influence, and engage in dialogue with the city.
– Next autumn, we will organise three different types of Tampere Residents’ Evenings, says Jarno Koskinen, Regional Coordinator responsible for organising the events.
The series begins on Tuesday 8 September 2026 from 5 pm to 7 pm, when residents will have the opportunity to discuss current issues with the Mayor, Deputy Mayors and the Chair of the City Council. The event will take place on the ground floor of City Hall and can also be followed via a live broadcast on the Tampere Channel. During the evening, visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the renovated City Hall and its services.
The second Residents’ Evening of the autumn season will be held at the Tesoma Wellbeing Centre on Thursday 8 October 2026 from 5 pm to 7 pm. The theme of the evening is everyday life for families with children and older people, as well as services for these groups. The event will bring together current topics related to the theme and offer opportunities for discussion.
At all Tampere Residents’ Evenings, participants can ask questions and share comments in English as well as in Finnish. In addition, one evening each year is organised primarily in English, with English as the main language throughout the programme.
In 2026, the English-language Tampere Residents’ Evening will be held on Thursday 5 November 2026 from 5 pm to 7 pm at City Hall. The theme of the evening is everyday life for international residents and services in Tampere.
The detailed programme of the events will be announced in the autumn.
Associations are invited to take part
Local associations, clubs and other community actors are welcome to present their activities at the Tampere Residents’ Evenings. Participation can be registered via an online form.
– I especially hope that international associations will take part in the English-language evening, says Jarno Koskinen.
