The Outdoor Swimming Pool opens on Friday 8 May 2026
During the summer season, in addition to a pleasant stay at the Outdoor Swimming Pool, there is a programme of activities for the whole family. On Saturday 6 June from 10am to 3pm, the Kickoff to Summer Vacation event will offer fun, movement and summer fun for the little ones in the family. The event starts at the nearby children's traffic park at 10am, where you can test the rules of road behaviour in a safe environment. The opening ceremony of the traffic park will also take place at the same time, and you can take part on your own bike, on a scooter or borrow the park's excellent pedal car. At 12 noon, the event will move to the Outdoor Swimming Pool, where the focus will be on highlighting the importance of swimming as a life skill and encouraging families to practice swimming and water skills with their children.
During the event, families will have the opportunity to get lots of practical tips on how to improve their swimming skills. Participants will also be able to practise various life-saving skills and watch a water rescue demonstration, for example. The main objective of the event is to highlight the importance of swimming as an important civic skill and to raise awareness among families about their own and their children's swimming skills before the summer beach season. To encourage families to participate in the event, children aged 4-16 years old can enter the event free of charge, accompanied by their guardian. The guardian pays the normal admission fee using the payment method of their choice. The event is organised in cooperation with the swimming clubs in Tampere.
Get your swimming skills in shape at the swimming school at the Outdoor Swimming Pool
As usual, the Outdoor Swimming Pool organises swimming lessons for children for a fee. The swimming schools on offer are ideal for children aged 6 and over, who are shy, have no swimming skills and do not yet dive. The Outdoor Swimming Pool swimming school lessons will be held right at the start of summer from 1 June to 12 June, with morning swimming lessons from 9 to 10.05 am. Paid swimming lessons will also be held at the swimming pools during the summer and free beach swimming lessons at the beaches in July. Registration for all swimming schools is open on 18 May at 9 am via the online registration system: liikkumaan.tampere.fi.
Music and relaxed chilling
To brighten up your summer days, you can enjoy a sunny day at the Outdoor Swimming Pool to the beats of DJ Juissi, when Summervibes Reloaded will entertain swimmers and summer day-trippers on Saturdays 11 July, 25 July, 1 August and 22 August from 1 pm to 3 pm. In addition, as in previous years, there will be music under the September moonlight during the Friday moonlight swim on 22 September, when the atmosphere will be set to the soft rhythms of jazz on this autumn evening.
The darkening autumn evenings will also be enhanced by a trailer sauna, which will be open until the end of the season on Friday nights in September. During the month of September, the opening hours of the Outdoor Swimming Pool have been extended until 10pm.
