Residents can contact the city’s services by email, by phone, via chat or by visiting the city’s premises. The correct service unit is stated in decisions and letters issued by the city.
Tampere residents can also find contact details on the city’s website. The website includes, among other things, contact details for service units, online services and feedback channels.
– The city’s aim is to ensure that residents can continue to find the contact details they need easily and reliably, says service manager Hanna-Leena Björk.
The city will discontinue its telephone switchboard this year
The city’s switchboard, on the phone number 03 565 611, currently routes calls to the right people and units. As recently as 2022, more than 30,000 calls were made to the switchboard, but last year the number fell to under 11,000.
– Previously, the switchboard received many calls asking to be connected to social and healthcare services. The social and healthcare reform that took effect at the start of 2023 reduced the need to route calls, says Björk.
Use of the switchboard number will end no later than 31 December 2026. The exact end date will be confirmed during autumn 2026 and will be communicated separately.
Within the city organisation, preparations are under way for the removal of the switchboard number by replacing it in various materials with the units’ own contact details.
The switchboard’s core function has been to forward calls. If a call has concerned another organisation’s services, such as those of The Wellbeing Services County of Pirkanmaa, callers have been provided with the relevant contact details.
If a resident is unsure whom to contact about their matter, they can ask for contact details from Tampere service point. Tampere service point’s email address is [email protected] and the phone number is 041 7308 168.
