Applications are now being accepted for early childhood education places becoming available in August 2026

Applications for early childhood education places becoming available in August are being accepted from 2 to 16 March 2026. The application process concerns places in Tampere City daycare centers becoming available in August.

Applying is relevant for guardians who know that they will need a childcare place for their child starting next fall. However, you must apply for an early childhood education place at least four months before the need for childcare begins.

In August, a large number of places become available throughout the city when the age group moving on to preschool leaves daycare. You can also apply for a place outside the actual application period throughout the year. The new daycare season starts in August after the summer season ends.

Applying in eVaka

Early childhood education places are primarily applied for in eVaka. You must log in to the service with strong authentication. If necessary, you can also fill in the application at the Tampere service point (Frenckellin aukio 2 B).

You must accept the early childhood education place offered within two weeks via eVaka or by contacting the daycare center director by email or phone.

Information about early childhood education services, different options, and the application process can be found on the city's website. The website also provides additional information about daycare centers offering shift and evening care and open early childhood education family clubs for preschool-aged children and their families.

Service vouchers can also be used at certain early childhood education facilities. Purchased service and service voucher daycare centers are private daycare centers from which the municipality purchases early childhood education services. You can apply for a place in a service voucher daycare center in eVaka using the same application form as for a municipal early childhood education place. The same form also serves as a service voucher application. More detailed information on the terms and conditions of customer fees for service voucher daycare centers and factors affecting the fees can be obtained from the daycare center and the service agreement made with the daycare center.

Families can arrange early childhood education in a private daycare center, group family daycare center, or with a family daycare provider with Kela's private care allowance. In this case, you apply for a place by contacting the selected service provider directly. The early childhood education and pre-school customer service is responsible for questions related to applying for places and other services.
