The European public transport cooperation network BEST (Benchmarking in European Service of Public Transport) conducts an annual survey to map the satisfaction of residents in member cities with public transport. In 2025, 10 cities participated in the survey: Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Rotterdam, Bergen (Vestland), Trondheim, Tampere, Turku, and Reykjavik.
The survey examines the following factors that affect satisfaction: transport availability, reliability, information, safety, travel comfort, social image, and value for money.
Of those who responded to the survey, 84% were satisfied with Nysse. The average overall satisfaction rating for all cities was 61%. Among the Finnish cities, Turku and Helsinki are also included in the survey. 72% of respondents were satisfied with Föli (Turku) and 70% with HSL (Helsinki Regional Transport). Turku and Helsinki ranked 2nd and 3rd in the survey.
Nysse received the highest ratings of all cities for safety (84%), travel comfort (84%), service reliability (83%), and transport availability (81%).
Nysse has been participating in the BEST survey since 2021. The biggest leap in development during these years has been in disruption communication: in 2021, 57% of respondents were satisfied with the information provided in disruption situations, while last year the figure was already 70%. The average for all cities in this category was 61%.
"Last year's results are encouraging. In addition to the growth in passenger numbers, customer satisfaction is also an important indicator for Nysse. For example, we have invested in disruption communications, and it's great to see that this is reflected in customer satisfaction," says Riikka Salkonen, Customer Relations Manager at Nysse.
A total of 643 Tampere residents responded to the survey in 2025. In all cities, a total of over 13,000 responses were received for the survey.
