The refrigeration equipment has been switched on at the artificial ice rinks and the rinks are being prepared for the coming season. The freezing situation is progressing rapidly as temperatures remain close to zero, but snowfall in particular may slow down the freezing of the rinks. As a rule, the artificial ice rinks are open for public skating, except for Koulukatu skating venue, where weekday shifts are allocated to schools and kindergartens and other slots to junior ice hockey players. However, there are also separate public skating shifts at the Koulukatu artificial ice rink, the times of which can be found in the Timmi booking system. Sorsapuisto also has some club shifts, during which the rink is reserved for club use only. Outside of the reserved periods, the artificial ice rink is divided into two sections, one half for skaters without sticks and the other half for skaters with sticks. The new maintenance buildings at Lielahti and Sorsapuisto are in use for the first winter season, and you can now change your clothes in new, comfortable facilities.
Preparations for the ski trails at Kauppi Sports Park start on Wednesday
The stored snow has been peeled off its covers and the application of snow to the trail base will start on Wednesday 19 November 2025. As for the track base, basic maintenance work has been carried out on the Kaukajärvi track section and in the Hervanta area on the track section between Suolijärvi and Suolijärvi-Lukonmäki. In addition to the maintenance work, the lighting on these routes has been renewed and the ski track signs on the Kaukajärvi route have been replaced.
For safety reasons, we would like to remind you that during the ice-freezing work and the preparation of the ski trails, it is forbidden to move around the working area.
Up-to-date information on the rinks and trails can be found on the Outdoor Sports Conditions Service
