The current Nekala library will be open for the last time on Sunday, 7 December. After this, the container, which has served as a temporary library space since 2020, will be emptied and removed as the lease ends.
According to the current schedule, the new Nekala Library will open in late winter in the former school building in Nekala, which is being renovated into a cultural centre. This is the same building where the library operated before moving into the container.
-The container library, which has operated on a self-service basis, has been a functional and actively used library. However, we are already looking forward to moving into new, more spacious premises, which will allow us to offer even more materials for adults as well. In addition, we will introduce staffed opening hours alongside self-service hours, says Head of Library Services Sylvia Stavén from Tampere City Library.
Further information about the opening and opening hours of the new Nekala Library will be provided later, once the opening date has been confirmed.
