The Kaukajärvi and Annala areas have been developed between 2023 and 2025 through the neighborhood program. The development work began with the creation of a neighborhood vision, which was used to create a common goal with stakeholders and residents about the development needs and future wishes for the area.
The themes of the Kaukajärvi and Annala vision are nature, community, and vitality. A wide range of measures (60 in total) to develop the area have been implemented by all city departments, as well as the Pirkanmaa welfare area, third sector actors, and local businesses.
This autumn, for example, traffic safety on Juvankatu has been improved. The outdoor trail from Kaukajärvi to Kisapirtti via Annala has also been renovated and the lighting in the areas has been upgraded. In addition, the design of the new building for the Kaukajärvi school, daycare center, library, and youth facilities is progressing.
Although the neighborhood program as a project will end at the end of this year, the development of the area will continue. Following the Neighbourhood Program, the long-term development of the Kaukajärvi and Annala areas will continue alongside Tesoma, Hervanta, Multisilta, and Peltolammi.
