"Ich komme aus Tampere" – Tampere cheers Erika Vikman to Eurovision victory
Tampere has come together to support Tampere-born Erika Vikman in the quest to win the Eurovision Song Contest. The City of Tampere and Visit Tampere have released 'Ich komme aus Tampere' video featuring well-known local personalities – including musicians, stand-up comedians, and actors – cheering and dancing to the beat of the song. The video was filmed, for example at Pispalanharju, Tammerkoski rapids, the floating sauna at Pyhäjärvi and the main square.
- Erika Vikman's Ich komme is a celebration of courage and breaking down prejudices. The same applies to Tampere as a city. With this video, we want to encourage the whole city community and Finland to support Erika Vikman from Tampere to win," says Tuomas Paloniemi, PR and media specialist at Visit Tampere.
The video will be shown on social media and at various locations in the city. It was produced by Karu Films, a video production company based in Tampere.
Ich komme aus Tampere takes over Tampere and Basel
Throughout Eurovision week, companies, communities, associations and individuals can also take part in the Ich komme aus Tampere campaign in Tampere. The city community can show their support by using the ready-made social media templates and the hashtag #IchKommeAusTampere, and by tagging your social media posts with @VisitTampereofficial.
In addition, various participants can announce their own Eurovision-themed side events in Tampere's events calendar using the tag #IchKommeAusTampere. Some of these events will be featured on the Visit Tampere’s Ich Komme aus Tampere website. In addition, during the semi-finals and final of the Song Contest, the light curtains on Hämeenkatu will be illuminated in line with the theme.
Finland’s support extends all the way to the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, where Erika Vikman and KAJ from Vörå will be followed by a team of supporters from their hometowns. Tampere and Vörå will unite to cheer on Erika Vikman and KAJ throughout the week in the centrally located Finland Lounge in Basel, which will include a real sauna.
- Tampere has many strengths that we want to show the world. In addition to interesting urban culture, world-class events and nature, sauna is one of Tampere's strong points. As the sauna capital of the world, Tampere will bring a real sauna to Basel with Vörå and the Finnish Sauna Association," says Saara Saarteinen, Event Manager of the City of Tampere.
Located next to the official event venues in Basel, the area will also be decorated with various Finnish elements, such as different photo walls. Several tens of thousands of visitors are expected in the Finnish area. The lounge and sauna will open on 13 May and will be open daily from 12 noon to 8 pm until 17 May. The saunas will be heated from 1 pm to 7 pm.
