The Amazing Race of Caring is being held for the first time. It is an open team competition aimed at inspiring people to participate in low-threshold volunteer activities and to create well-being, community, and a responsible culture of caring together.
– The Amazing Race of Caring is a joint effort with the city's Welfare Development Programme. Our vision is "Wellbeing is everyone’s matter". The aim is to increase caring and togetherness in Tampere in new ways," says Anna Koski, Project Manager of the Welfare Development Programme.
Participants are sought from, for example, employees of companies and organizations, students and teachers of educational institutions, members of clubs and associations, as well as other citizen groups and residents. A competition team can be as simple as a group of friends.
The competition offers various volunteer opportunities where teams can choose to engage with people through activities such as socializing, outdoor activities and sports, music, visual arts, poetry, reading, crafts, and environmental and nature conservation. Teams can choose from the given options which volunteer activities they want to participate in. All encounters and activities are equally valuable.

Registration is easy: form a team, check the range of sports on the registration page for your municipality, choose a suitable event from the list of events and participate. Let's make Tampere the most caring municipality in Finland together!, inspires Sami Siltanen, project planner of the Welfare Development Programme.
Additionally, teams can find their own location and method for their volunteer activity (e.g., a choir offering a performance at a service home). In this case, the team contacts the desired location and registers it as their competition venue.
Depending on the size and needs of the target group, the volunteer activity can involve teams of varying sizes. Points are awarded based on the number of participants in the team and the time spent on volunteer activities. The best teams and municipalities will be rewarded by the competition organization.
