Renovation and extension of the City Hall, formerly the Central Office Building

White building with big windows.
The renovation and extension of the City Hall, formerly the Tampere City Central Office Building, began in spring 2023 and was completed at the end of November 2025. The property on the Aleksis Kiven katu side has been renovated, and a new five-story section has been built on the Puutarhakatu side.

The building’s fully accessible ground floor is open to everyone. Tampere Service Point, restaurant and café are located on the ground floor. The ground floor also provides access to the Conference centre on the second floor. The Council hall remains on the fifth floor.

The new City Hall provides facilities for approximately 950 employees.

The City Hall is a building of architectural and historical value, which is protected in the city plan. The building has accessible and clear passageways.

The total cost of the construction project was 49 million euros. Tampereen Tilapalvelut acted as the developer and YIT Rakennus Oy as the project management contractor.
