The route to the main entrance

There is no designated drop-off point, but customers often park briefly in front of the main entrance on the sidewalk or on the opposite side of Käätykatu on the pedestrian and bicycle lane.

The main entrance

The entrance stands out clearly and is illuminated. There is a canopy above the entrance.
There are a couple of low steps in front of the main entrance. A ramp with handrails on both sides has been built next to the wall. At the top of the ramp, there is a door opening button on the wall that can be operated with the left hand/elbow. The inner door opening button is located in the vestibule, immediately to the right. The entrance is a bit narrow, but it is accessible by wheelchair.
In connection with the entrance, there are 2 consecutive steps, with handrails on both sides. The steps are marked with contrast stripes.
The entrance has a ramp under 6 m long, with handrails on both sides.
The doors connected to the entrance stand out clearly. Outside the door there is sufficient room for moving e.g. with a wheelchair. The door opens automatically with an opening button.
The foyer is cramped.

In the facility

The customer service point is on the entrance floor.
The library is located on one floor, so there are no stairs, thresholds, etc. There are signs hanging from the ceiling, and the toilet sign is located both on the toilet door and above the door. There are two toilets, which are gender-neutral. One of them is accessible for people with disabilities. The door is a bit heavy to open and there is no automatic opening mechanism.

The waiting room of the customer service point has no queue number system. The waiting room has chairs.
The customer service point has a toilet marked as accessible on the same floor. The toilet door cannot be easily opened and closed.

The cozy Kaukajärvi Library is located next to the Kaukajärvi School. The library has services for all ages, and its facilities are bright, open and easily accessible for those with impaired mobility.

The Kaukajärvi Library offers computers and a multidevice for printing, copying and scanning. In addition, the library has the Seutu Open wifi network. By logging in, you can use the library's e-services on your own device.

The library has a meeting room for 10 people called Kulmuri and a multipurpose hall for 50 people called Kauksula, both of which can be reserved.

Self-service library open from morning to evening

Kaukajärvi Library is a self-service library that you can also use outside regular opening hours. During broad self-service opening hours, you can open the doors of the library with a PIKI library card and its ID number.

The library does not have any staff during self-service hours but you can loan and return materials through self-service machines, use a computer, read magazines and even work or hold meetings in the library's premises.

You can only use the Kaukajärvi library during self-service hours if you are registered as a self-service library customer. With a single registration, you can use all of Tampere’s self-service libraries.
